Baggage Policy

The baggage policy of Alaska Airlines is as follows,

• All the passengers of Alaska Airlines can carry one checked baggage, one cabin baggage, and one personal item.
• The weight of the standard checked baggage must be less than 50 lbs, and dimensions must be less than 62 linear inches.
• If your extra checked baggage weighs up to 50 lbs and measures less than 62 linear inches, then every first bag will be charged $30, and the second bag is charged $40.
• If you carry more than two bags and it's allowed by the airlines, then they will charge $100 per bag.
• The number of baggage can be restricted during peak seasons depending on Alaska Airlines policies.
• If you carry checked baggage weighing 50 lbs to 100 lbs and measuring 63" to 115", then the airlines will charge $100 per bag.
• Alaska Airlines passengers can carry one cabin baggage. The cabin baggage dimensions must not exceed 22"*14"*9", including wheels and handles.
• Alaska Airlines passengers can carry one personal item like a purse, laptop bag, or briefcase. The size and dimensions must fit the overhead bin in the aircraft.

Food Policy

The food menu of Alaska Airlines is inspired by the West Coast that has fresh and bright ingredients and color. Alcoholic and Non-alcoholic Beverages are available on trips over 350 miles on Main Cabin and Premium Class. Alcohol is free in the Premium Class and in the Main Cabin, beer is $8.50, wine and spirits is $9.50, and canned cocktails are $12.50. They also serve hot beverages, like tea and coffee.

You can book your meals on Alaska Airlines Main Cabin and Premium Class from 2 weeks to 20 hours prior to your travel date. In case of flight change your meals won't be transferred, you have to book separately for the new flight. You can enjoy a range of freshly prepared meals including gluten-free and vegan options.

You can enjoy free alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages which are available on First Class cabins of flights over 350 miles. They also serve hot beverages, like tea and coffee. Their meal service includes breakfast on flights departing between 5 AM to 10 AM & lunch and dinner service on flights departing between 10 AM to 9 PM.

The meals available on flights 670 miles and above are- fruit plate, Greek yogurt and granola for breakfast. Cheese Burger for lunch and dinner. For flights operating for 1100 miles and more, the meals are- fruit bowl, appetizer salad, fruit and cheese platter, corn omelet and chicken with fried plantains, and lunch and dinner has mixed nuts and a dessert. The food menu in Alaska Airlines is designed to suit the tastes of the passengers to help give them a fulfilling travel experience.

Child Policy

According to Alaska Airlines child policy, any child under 13 years must be seated with at least one accompanying adult. You need to carry the child’s birth certificate, passport, and other documentation as a proof of their age for verification by the airline.

Any adult traveling on Alaska Airlines with a ticket is allowed to carry one lap infant. However, with infants on lap, you cannot sit in the emergency exit rows, in the rows in front or behind any exit row. A diaper bag is included in the standard carry-on limit of the ticketed adult passenger. In first-class cabins, lap infants are not eligible for complimentary meals.

You can carry a child restraint system onboard, like car seats. Infants with car seats cannot get accommodated in the risky areas of the aircraft, like front, behind, and at the emergency exit rows, aisle seats, and in the A seats of rows 1-4. Alaska Airlines has a very transparent and clear pet policy that ensures top-notch care starting from $100. You can carry your pets with Alaska Airlines in two ways:

Pets in Cabin

• The airline allows small pets, like dogs, house cats, domesticated rabbits, and household birds to travel in passenger cabins at a price of $100 each way.
• For locations, like Hawaii and Internationally, only dogs and cats are allowed to travel inside the cabin.
• If you want to travel with your pet in the cabin, you must place a request a day before your travel to get your pet a spot inside the cabin.

There are some specific rules that you must follow when you're traveling with your pet in the cabin:

• You must be 18 years or above to travel with a pet in the cabin.
• You cannot take an emergency exit row or bulkhead row seat when you're traveling with a pet inside the cabin.
• Your carry-on baggage can be either a pet carrier and a personal item or a pet carrier and a standard size bag eligible as a cabin baggage.
• The First Class cabin in Alaska Airlines can accommodate a total of three pet carriers per flight, and the Main Cabin can accommodate a total of eight pet carriers per flight.
• If you’re buying a seat adjacent to you along with a second ticket, you can carry two pet carriers in the main cabin.
• You can travel with only dogs, cats, rabbits, and household birds in the Main Cabin.
• The pets you carry inside the cabin must be at least eight weeks old, they must be fully weaned, and can take solid food.
• The pet must stay in its carrier with the door/flap secured at all times in the boarding area, Alaska Lounge, and inside the aircraft.
• You must keep your pet under the seat in front of you during take-off and landing.
• You can carry up to two pets of the same species and similar in the same carrier. However, you must ensure that no body parts protrude from the carrier and the animals are not in distress.
• Animals with offensive odors or those that create a noise disturbance must travel in a climate-controlled baggage compartment in Alaska Airlines.

You can carry your pets inside the aircraft cabins in a hard-sided carrier of size 50 and dimensions 17" x 11" x 7.5" or a soft-sided carrier of size 50 and dimensions 17" x 11" x 9.5".

Pets in Baggage Compartment

Alaska Airlines is generous enough to accept almost all kinds of domesticated pets for travel in climate-controlled baggage and cargo compartments with a fee of $150. The fee for pets traveling in the state of Alaska, active duty US Military, or US Military dependents on travel orders is $100. The carrier and pet together must weigh up to 150 pounds.

For international locations and Hawaii, only dogs and cats are accepted to travel in the cargo compartments. Other pets that can travel domestically in the baggage compartment of Alaska Airlines are guinea pigs, non-poisonous reptiles, rabbits, tropical fish, and a few more. The carrier sizes for these pets range from extra small to extra large with sizes ranging from 100 to 500.

Flight Change Policy

Alaska Airlines has a beautiful flight change policy which is both transparent and convenient for the passengers. They do not charge flight change fees on Main and First Class fares which is a sign of making travel more flexible and accessible to passengers. There are some strict policies regarding flight change that all passengers must abide by: they are:

• The airline saver fares cannot be changed and it can be canceled for a full refund under the 24-hour cancellation policy of Alaska Airlines.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

The cancellation policies of Alaska airlines are:

• The 24-hour cancellation policy of Alaska Airlines says that you can cancel your flights within 24 hours of booking your ticket to get a full refund without any extra cancellation fees.
• The above policy is only applicable for tickets that are booked before 24 hours of departure time.
• In all other scenarios you have to bear the cancellation fees for Alaska Airlines flight tickets.

The refund policies of Alaska Airlines are:

• All Alaska Airlines tickets that are eligible for refund will be refunded to the original form of payment within the first 24 hours of your purchase if you make a cancellation under the 24-hour booking policy.
• For all cash purchases, the airline will refund within 20 business days and credit card purchases will receive their refund in 7 business days. However, it will take 7-14 business days to post the refund to your account by the credit card company.
• For electronic tickets, the refund will be done online upon request.
