Baggage Policy
Carry-on Baggage
- The airline allows passengers with Blue, Blue Plus, Blue Extra, and Mint fare types to carry one carry-on and one personal item that must fit on the overhead bin of your aircraft.
- The dimensions of the carry-on bag shouldn't exceed 22*14*9 inches including wheels and handles.
- The personal item should not be more than 17*13*8 inches.
- Passengers with Blue Basic fares can carry one personal item that must fit under the seat in front of you. Extra baggage fee is $65 for first or 2nd bag and $180 for 3rd bag.
- If you have a pet with your Blue Basic Fare, you can carry a pet carrier and a personal item.
Checked Baggage
- The airline allows up to two checked baggage per person.
- You can also check additional baggage to your booking with extra fees, but you can only check them 24 hours prior to your scheduled departure time.
- Your checked baggage must not exceed 62 inches on all sides and each bag’s weight must not exceed 50 pounds.
- The checked baggage fee for 1st bag with Blue Basic, Blue, and Blue Extra is $35 if you check them 24 hours before departure and it is included in the fare for Blue Plus, Mint, Mosaic, and JetBlue Cardmember.
- For the 2nd checked bag when you check 24 hours prior to the departure time, the fee is $50 for Blue Basic, Blue, Blue Plus, Blue Extra, and JetBlue Cardmember. It is free for Mosaic and Mint fare types.
- If you’re checking your bags within 24 hours of departure, $45 is the fee for the first bag for Blue Basic, Blue, and Blue Extra and it is included in the fare for Blue Plus, Mint, Mosaic, and JetBlue Cardmember.
- When you're checking your 2nd baggage within 24 hours of departure, $60 is the fee for Blue Basic, Blue, Blue Plus, Blue Extra, and JetBlue Cardmember. It is free for Mosaic and Mint fare types.
- For the 3rd checked baggage, the fee is $125 and for the 4th checked baggage or more it's $150.
- Checked baggage above 70 pounds is not acceptable on Transatlantic flights.
Sports and Musical Instruments
- Sports equipment must not exceed a weight of 99 pounds.
- Only if you pack your sports gear in a hard-sided case, your liability will be covered in case of damage.
- Blue Basic fare doesn't allow cabin baggage so in case you want to carry any sports equipment you have to book other fare types.

- Other than Blue Basic Fare, all fare types on JetBlue Airways allow you to get a diaper bag and breast pump along with carry-on and personal items for lap infants.
- The airline doesn't count strollers and car seats as carry-on or checked baggage. If your infant can sit upright on the seat you’ve purchased, you can avoid bringing a car seat. You can use an FAA-approved safety seat on board if you've purchased a seat for your infant.
- If you're travelling with kids, Blue, Blue Plus and Blue Extra fare types include free advance seat selection and a carry-on bag allowance, unlike Blue Basic fare.
Pet Policy
The following are the Pet Policies of JetBlue Airways:
- The airline accepts dogs and cats under 20 pounds in the cabin. Unaccompanied Minors cannot carry pets on JetBlue flights.
- You need to go through the entry and travel requirements of your pets at the destinations before bringing your pet onboard.
- You can carry a pet carrier with only one pet in it who can easily move around in the carrier and a personal item with you inside the cabin. The pet carrier dimensions must accommodate under the seat in front of you.
- You can also buy a seat for your pet but it must be in a pet carrier and in the flight or at the airport your pet must be inside the carrier. Blue Basic Fare doesn't allow carry-on baggage but you can carry a pet carrier with extra fees.
- The airline charges $125 as per fees each way and Mint cabins do not allow pets. The airline doesn't book pets in cargo.
Flight Change, Cancellation and Refund Policies
The flight change, cancellation, and refund policies of JetBlue Airways are as follows:
- If your flight has been cancelled by the airline, you can rebook the flight without any extra charges.
- Once you place a cancellation request, the airline will update you regarding your refund within 7 days of your flight's scheduled departure.
- If you’ve booked your tickets from a third-party, then you must request a refund after 7 days of the flight’s scheduled departure.
- The compensation credit for cancellation announcement within 4 hours of flight is $50 and after scheduled departure is $100.
- The compensation credit for departure delay from 4-5 hours is $75, 5-6 hours is $100, 6-12 hours is $150, and more than 12 hours is $200.
- You may receive your refund if eligible as a travel credit or to your original payment mode depending on the airline policies.
- It may take a few days to a month for the refund to reflect in your bank account.
- The change or cancellation fee is only applicable for Blue Basic fare; all other fare types have no fees.
- The change or cancellation fee for the Caribbean, North, and Central America is $100 per person. For other routes, it is $200 per person.
- For flights change, the fare difference and fare rules for that particular day will apply. You can make the same day confirmed flight change at $75 per person without any fare difference.
- The airline charges a $25 nonrefundable fee per person for changing or cancelling over the phone or through chat.
